Are the music boxes really made by hand?
Yes. Every Ercolano music box is made by hand in our workshop in Sorrento.
Can I choose the melody?
Melodies vary by availability. Tell us which you'd like and we'll match it to what's in stock — just write to info@ercolano.it before ordering.
What's the difference between the Artists and Inlaid collections?
The Artists collection wears its artwork on the lid — vivid and illustrative, hand-lacquered onto the wood and sealed beneath clear coats. The Inlaid collection is built the opposite way: the design is genuine marquetry, fine wood veneers cut and set by hand — never printed — and on premium pieces the inlay continues around the whole box. Both are finished entirely by hand.
How do I wind the music box?
Wind it gently from the underside of the box. Don't force it or wind it all the way, so the movement stays in good voice for years.
How should I care for my music box?
Wipe it gently with a soft cloth, barely dampened with a little alcohol, always with the lid closed. The polyester finish is hard-wearing, but it deserves the same care you'd give any fine piece.
