OUR CRAFT

Made by hand in Sorrento

Every Ercolano music box begins as raw wood and ends as an heirloom — shaped, finished, and voiced entirely by hand in our Sorrento workshop.
THE TRADITION
For generations, the workshops of Sorrento have turned wood into objects that hold a song. We work in that same tradition — slowly, and by hand.
Nothing here is mass-produced. Each music box passes through many hands before it carries your melody home.

THE WOOD

It begins with the wood

Every piece starts as seasoned wood, chosen for its grain and weight, then shaped and sanded into the form that will carry both artwork and melody.

THE ARTISTS COLLECTION

Hand-lacquered, layer by layer

Each Artists piece wears its artwork on the lid — vivid and illustrative, sealed beneath successive coats of clear lacquer, hand-applied and polished until the wood glows.

THE INLAID COLLECTION

Marquetry, cut and set by hand

The Inlaid collection is built the opposite way: fine wood veneers, cut and set by hand one against another, until the pattern emerges in the grain itself. This is marquetry — inlaid, never printed.

THE MOVEMENT

Voiced with an 18-note movement

Inside every box turns an 18-note wind-up movement. A steel comb is tuned by hand so that, when the lid lifts, a Sorrento melody plays.
